`matplotlib`

contour three-dimensional plots come in two flavors—filled and unfilled. Contour plots use the so-called **contour lines**. You may be familiar with contour lines from geographic maps. In such maps, contour lines connect points of the same elevation above sea level. We can create normal contour plots with the `contour()`

function. For filled contour plots, we use the `contourf()`

function.
