Preparing the environment


Before getting into the details of building a data mart with PDI, we will perform the following:

  • Present the data that will be used for all the tutorials and examples through the rest of the chapter
  • Create and populate the database so that it's ready to run the tutorials

Exploring the Jigsaw database model

It contains information about products such as puzzles and accessories. The table has descriptive information and data about prices and stock. The pro_type column has the type of product—puzzle, glue, and so on. Several of the columns only apply to puzzles, for example, shapes or pieces.
