Classifying thyroid disease with a neural network

Thyroid activity has many effects in our body. For example, the thyroid gland regulates metabolism and controls very important functions such as heart rate, nervous system development, body growth, muscular strength, sexual function, and more. Because of the central role of the thyroid in regulating bodily metabolism, when this gland does not work properly, the whole body suffers.

The causes of thyroid dysfunction can be many. First of all, your thyroid may increase or slow down your activity, producing excess or defective hormones over the actual body needs. These conditions are called hyperthyroidism (that is, an excessive production of thyroid hormones) and hypothyroidism (which is the opposite condition in which there is a deficiency of thyroid hormones).
