Summary


We started the chapter with the basic components of PowerCenter Designer screen, that is Source Analyzer, Target Designer, Transformation Developer, Mapplet Designer, Mapping Designer. You then learned to work on different types of sources, including flat files (delimited files and fixed width files) and relational databases. Similarly, we worked on different types of targets. We also worked upon the import and create functionality of sources and targets. Later in the chapter, we saw how to preview the data. The last and most important aspect you learned in this chapter is creating the mappings using Sources and Targets.

Informatica PowerCenter Designer screen, of course, cannot be that simple. Moving ahead, in the next chapter, we will see the advanced concepts of the Designer Screen. There are lot of high-level functionalities that are added in the Designer window to help in better and faster processing.
