Summary

In this chapter, you learned to recognize some of the hardware prerequisites for a MongoDB 4.x installation. Among the considerations discussed were how much memory was required, the type and nature of storage, and the file and operating systems. You then learned some of the differences between a MongoDB 3 and a MongoDB 4.x installation. The most important consideration is that support for some of the older operating systems (for example, Ubuntu 14.04 and Windows 8.1) has been—or will shortly be—removed.

You were given a general overview of how to install MongoDB on Linux, Windows, and macOS. You then learned about the more important configuration options and the location and nature of the configuration file. After that, you learned how to install the recommended Python driver, PyMongo.
