Tableau dashboard hands-on

To follow along with this tutorial, please have Tableau Desktop downloaded and installed on your machine (the version does not matter). For this Tableau tutorial, we will use the Airbnb data from the Boston, Massachusetts area, which is available on Kaggle (https://www.kaggle.com/datasets/airbnb/boston). There are three distinct datasets we will be using:

  • Listings.csv (information about the listings themselves and their review scores)
  • Calendar.csv (information about the availability and pricing for each listing for each day)
  • Reviews.csv (information about each reviewer and their commentary on each listing)

Let’s start creating the dashboard:

  1. Download the dataset from https://www.kaggle.com/datasets/airbnb/boston and extract the files from the ZIP folder. You will see three CSV files when you unzip the download:
