Filtering

Types of Filters

Filtering the data displayed in a Tableau view is as simple as placing the field you want to filter on the Filters shelf and then selecting from the options available which values to show and which not to show.

The options available when filtering will depend on the type of field used. While filtering using a measure, the first decision to make is what style of filtering should be applied to that measure. The initial popup when filtering with a measure asks How do you want to filter on [FIELD NAME]?. The first option available is All Values, and this will filter the data at a row level.
