Creating a Story

In this exercise, you will use Tableau’s story functionality to create a narrative analysis. Stories are great for presentations and taking users through a journey of analysis. Follow these steps:

  1. Using the same workbook and dashboard created for the chapter so far, create a story by selecting Story on the menu toolbar followed by New Story.
  2. Set the title of the story to Sales Analysis Story by double-clicking the title textbox and updating the text.
  3. Drag the dashboard created in previous exercises onto the story and resize the story canvas using the custom size option at the bottom of the story pane, so that the whole dashboard is visible.
  4. Type Sales Analysis Dashboard into the caption box. A story has now been created with the dashboard present. This is a high-level analysis but to tell a story, additional story points can be added that drill in the detail.
  5. Duplicate the current story point by selecting Duplicate in the New story point...
