At this point in the book, we have seen how language models answered our questions. We will now use agents to pursue our goals. This chapter is our bridge from clever prompts and tidy chains to systems that can plan, choose tools, adapt, and stop on their own, reliably and within budget. We encourage agentic design where real work is messy: multi-step, tool-heavy, and sensitive to context. Rather than adding more LLM calls, we introduce a structure that makes autonomy reproducible, auditable, and cost-aware.
