The evolutionists tribe

As we mentioned at the beginning of the book, the computer science and data science researchers studying genetic algorithms and genetic programming are part of the evolutionist tribe as defined by Pedro Domingos. In some ways, this tribe is not front and center. The connectionists are having their day in the sun and seem to be enjoying their time in the spotlight. As highlighted by Dr. Domingos, as CPUs get faster and more research is performed in this area, do not be surprised if new and exciting cutting-edge research emerges in this area in the next couple years. They already have made many strong and innovative contributions to the field and will continue to do so.
