Protection in DMZ


Microsoft is very clear on one thing regarding the protection of DMZ servers; it is not supported. You probably think that it should work just the same as the workgroup protection and you are right. So why doesn't Microsoft support it? The answer is the firewall configuration for establishing a protection is far too open for Microsoft to say that they can achieve a fully supported secure scenario. It is a good thing that Microsoft is very clear on this point, and within, Microsoft will solve this issue.

To summarize this, you can protect your DMZ servers with DPM 2012 but it is not supported by Microsoft.
