Creating a vector layer
To start working with vectors, we need to create a vector layer. There are two ways to do this: through the File menu or through the Layer palette. We will see these methods in the following sections.
Creating a vector layer via the File menu
Follow these steps to create a vector layer using the File menu:
- In the File menu, click on File, then go to New Layer, and finally click on Vector Layer.
- Enter a name for the layer in the New vector Layer dialog box that appears.
- Choose an Expression Color (Black and White, Gray, or Color) from the drop-down menu in the New vector Layer dialog box.
- If applicable, choose a Blending mode from the drop-down menu.
- Click on OK to create the new layer.
