In this recipe, we explored a range of the different modules and parameters of Unity particle systems. The core of a particle system is based on the Material particles they are displayed (rendered) with. By changing the material of the Renderer module, we can influence how the system looks – in this case, we ensured the Default-Particle material was being used, solving the issue of pink squares for no Material.
Changing the Start Lifetime and Start Speed properties of particles determines how far the particles will go from their starting point – the shorter the lifetime and the slower they move, the less distance they will travel. Changing the color and size of particles during their life allows effects such as the red glows/spots we created in the recipe to be implemented.
