How to do it...

To create a particle system to simulate an explosion, follow these steps:

  1. Start a new Unity 3D project and ensure you are logged into your Unity account in the Unity Editor.
  2. Import the provided image file; that is, firecloud.png.

Let's create a Material for this image that can be used by particle systems. 

  1. In the Project window, create a new Material named m_fireCloud (menu: Create | Material). Drag the firecloud texture asset into the Albedo property of m_fireCloud in the Inspector window.
  2. With m_fireCloud selected in the Project window, in the Inspector window, select the Particles/Standard Unlit shader and set Rendering Mode to Additive.
  3. Open the Unity Asset Store in a web browser and log into your Unity account.
  4. Tick Free Assets and search for and select the free Stylized Crystal on the Asset Store:
