The 3D digital artists are facing difficulties in creating additional spaceship models. However, using two or three models and displaying them with many different textures will enable the player to choose between a dozen spaceships. Your project manager wants you to use the same technique used in the 2D games to create additional characters without putting in a huge effort.
First, we are going to open the spaceship model in Blender, add a texture based on a PNG image and export the 3D model to the ASE format, compatible with Balder. These steps are necessary because we must export the ASE format including a bitmap texture definition enveloping the meshes. Later, we will be able to replace this bitmap texture definition.
