Time for action - creating a road object


In this example, we will explore the basic uses of the Road tool and learn how to create paths, which are easy for the player to recognize and traverse:

  1. Open the level example_4, or the level you saved in the previous chapter, with the Editor.exe application.

  2. In the RollupBar, open the Objects tab.

  3. Select the Misc button.

  4. From the Object Type section, select Road, as seen in the following screenshot:

  5. Set your alignment tools to the Align to Terrain icon, as seen in the following screenshot:

  6. Click on the Terrain object to create five or six points along the curved line, representing the Road entity.

  7. Double-click to finalize the shape of the Road.

    By default, Road does not have material applied to it yet. So, let's apply a suitable material.

  8. Open the Material Editor using the keyboard shortcut M, or open it by using the Open View Pane menu.
