In this chapter, we explored several types of network and Internet connections available to us on a mobile (Android) device and what we can expect from them. We also looked at how the implementations of certain types of multiplayer games have to take these characteristics into account. Finally, we looked at the Multiplayer
extension for AndEngine and the possibilities that it offers.
At this point, we can describe the characteristics of various types of network interfaces on Android, implement various types of multiplayer games that take these characteristics into account, and avoid the various pitfalls that can come with implementing a multiplayer mode in a game. Now we can also integrate and use the AndEngine Multiplayer
extension in our own games, allowing easy and quick server-client-based multiplayer matches over WiFi, mobile, or Bluetooth.
In the next chapter, we'll look at many ways in which we can expand a framework such as AndEngine.
