Aiming the eyeballs with Constraints

We explored all sorts of interesting ways to create eyeballs in this chapter. However, all of our eyes are aimed straight forward. This can be a little jarring when presenting the finished character in a portfolio. We could rotate the eyes into a more natural position, but it's difficult to make the eyes aim at the same spot and look natural when we rotate them by hand.

This is where we can make use of Constraints. Constraints are similar to modifiers, but they are generally used to calculate some type of transformation data. In this case, we can use a constraint to aim the eyeballs at a target.

Once the constraint is added, all we have to do is position a target object and the eyes will automatically aim themselves correctly.
