By the end of this Blender book, you’ll be able to model your own 3D characters, objects, and landscapes; rig, animate, and texture your characters; 3D track live-action footage; and composite your 3D characters into live-action scenes.

Reusing our alien character and walk cycle animation

In this section, we will reuse our alien character with its walk cycle animation from Chapter 8, Rigging and Animating Your 3D Cartoon Character, and save the project to a new file. Yes, I know – aliens, as we know them, usually don't have much hair if any, but this alien is different. However, as always, feel free to use a different character or animation – it's all up to you.

Let's get started and create some amazing-looking hair! Perform the following steps:

  1. Open the Blender project that we saved in Chapter 8, Rigging and Animating Your 3D Cartoon Character.
  2. Now, click on File | Save As and save this project as Chapter 11 - Create Dynamic Hair Using Particles.
  3. Let's clean up this project by deleting any unnecessary objects such as lights and cameras. We only want to keep our character and the rig that controls the character animation. Click on any lights or unwanted objects...
