Importing our alien character and tracked camera into a new Blender project
In this section, we will import our character with its walk-cycle animation, as well as the tracked camera, into a new Blender project. We will reuse the walk cycle and tracked camera to composite our character onto the live-action footage. Let's get started! Proceed as follows:
- Create a new Blender project.
- Delete everything in the scene by pressing A and then pressing X and clicking Delete to confirm.
- Click File | Append.
- Browse to the location where you have saved the Blender project we created in Chapter 8, Rigging and Animating Your 3D Cartoon Character.
- Double-click on the
.blend
file to see its contents. - Double-click the
Object
folder. - Select the character from the list. I named my character
Alien
, but yours might be called something else. - Click Append to import the character into the new project. You can see a screenshot of this here:
