Inscription is the newest main profession in the game, having only been added with the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Scribes are best known for producing glyphs, character modifications that can provide a varying range of effects. Unfortunately, glyphs are fairly labor intensive due to there now being over 400 glyphs that can be created. To add insult to injury, glyph prices on most servers have largely been trashed due to years of being touted as the best profession and the tendency of players to camp the auction house and drive prices down.
Fortunately, Scribes have another trick up their sleeve; they can also produce weapons (staves) and trinkets for players.
