A layer can be understood as a named transparent sheet. Overlapping all layers is the project. Each layer has several properties like visibility, locked, color, linestyle, lineweight, or printed.
There is a special layer named 0 (zero), existing in all drawings and that can not be deleted or renamed.
Note
When creating entities, layer 0 should be avoided. However, this layer is useful when creating entities that will belong to components (blocks).
To activate a layer and control the main layer properties the quickest process is applying the layer list, contained in the Layers toolbar.
This list can easily be used for the following operations:
Activate a layer: To activate a layer (make it current for drawing next entities) its name must be picked with the cursor.
Modify layer entities: If we want to move entities from one layer to another, we select these entities, without command, and select the wanted layer in the list.
