A polyline is a continuous sequence of lines and arcs that constitutes a single entity. There are three commands to create polylines. The RECTANGLE
and
POLYGON
commands that we saw in Chapter 3, Starting to Create Projects, and the RING
command that we will see later in this chapter also creates polylines but with specific shapes.
Note
Polylines are very useful when we need to calculate areas and lengths on the project, and for distributing points or components evenly spaced or at measured intervals, along its length.
The POLYLINE
command (alias PL
, on the Draw toolbar, or on the Draw main menu) creates polylines without existing entities. By default, this command prompts for the user to specify the points and draws straight lines between them; pressing Enter or Esc ends the command.
