DraftSight includes all the main tools to draft with precision, and it works with DWG files, the most popular CAD file type. It runs on a wide variety of operating systems, including Windows, Mac, and Linux. Getting Started with DraftSight addresses all the main phases for executing and printing a mechanical project. Summary


This chapter includes the commands used to document or dimension a drawing. The LINEARDIMENSIONcommand creates horizontal and vertical dimensions. The PARALLELDIMENSION command creates aligned dimensions. The CONTINUEDIMENSION and BASELINEDIMENSION commands create continued or parallel dimensions from an existing dimension. The ANGLEDIMENSION command creates angular dimensions. The RADIUSDIMENSION and DIAMETERDIMENSION commands create radial and diameter dimensions and the ARCLENGTHDIMENSION command dimensions the perimeter of arcs. The ORDINATEDIMENSION command creates ordinate dimensions, corresponding to X-Datum or Y-Datum point coordinates. Before applying ordinate dimensions, it is often necessary to specify a new coordinate system to define the origin, which is done by the CCS command. The SMARTLEADER creates leader dimensions, connecting a text or block to a special feature of the project.
