If you are teaching a fully online course, synchronous online meetings during which all members of your class are present online can be a huge benefit to the teaching and learning that takes place within your course. A synchronous online meeting allows all students and teachers involved in your course to participate in a virtual classroom, much like a conference call. Each member of the class logs in to the conference and connects to everyone else in the class; you are free to lead a presentation or lecture during this time, or open the conference up for group discussions and questions. In addition to the audio communication possible through these meetings, you and your students can enable your webcams. So, everyone in the class can see and talk to each other at the same time, just as you would in a live classroom. You can even record meetings so students who are not able to be present are still able to see what happened during the meeting...
