Replacing 3D models


There is a second way to replace a 3D model in Lumion, and this is especially useful when we don't want to overwrite the file with the changes, but instead, use a new file. When we need to use a new file with the updates, we cannot use the feature mentioned in the previous section. What we need is a way to pick a new file and at the same time avoid losing all the changes made, which can include materials. How can we tackle this issue?

In the previous section, we saw how to reload the same file with the changes, and if we follow the steps mentioned, let's stop before pressing the Reload model and re apply materials button. Instead, press and hold the Ctrl key and notice how a new button called Reload model appears and reapply materials new file, as shown in the following screenshot:

After clicking on this button, we have the opportunity to navigate to the folder where the new file is located. Select the file and click on the Open button to replace the 3D model in Lumion...
