In the last chapter, you created a photoreal rendering of your interior and exterior architectural models. That's a big achievement! However, whatever you do, don't stop there! There are some important things you need to do to your image before it's worthy of your portfolio.

In this chapter, you're going to learn some tricks in GIMP, which pro 3D visualizers use. You can follow these steps even if you have Photoshop, but you will have to translate the instructions per the Photoshop tools. In this chapter, you'll find out how GIMP can help you:

  • Produce a vignette that draws the eye to your scene

  • Add bloom to add a glow to the highlights

  • Blur foreground or background to simulate the camera depth of field

  • Add lighting effects in GIMP

  • Composite several images to insert your model into real life scenes

It's a lot to cover, so let's get going. You can use some of the scenes you've already created in the earlier chapters....
