Site-Level Backups


So far, we have covered how to back up a single course. The site-level backup performs the same operation for every course on the system, including the front page, which is also a course (the front page backup uses the site name).

Backup Settings

To schedule site backups, go to Courses | Backups in the Site Administration block. You will see a number of settings:

Description

Include Modules

Includes course modules (activities and resources) in backup archive. Sometimes there are problems with third-party add-ons.

Include module user data

Includes data added by users in modules such as assignments.

Metacourse

If selected, metacourse relationships to other courses will be included in the backup archive.

Users

User records are included in the backup. The following two options are available:

  • All (default): Includes all users in your Moodle system.

  • Course: Includes only users who are enrolled to the course.
