Adding memory aids to glossary entries


Some subjects require memorization. This is a reality of teaching and learning. Vocabulary, formulae, and classifications all require students to memorize. Reminders and mnemonics are memory aids that can make memorizing faster and easier for your students. Also, by creating clear categories and schemata, students will be able to organize the material.

Please remember that the mind recalls information when it goes from short-term memory to working memory. The memory retrieval process is facilitated by asking students to discuss the terms and concepts and then to relate them to their own lives, experience, or prior knowledge.
