Summary


In this chapter we've looked at two new features of Moodle 2.0 that help teacher and students manage their learning:

  • Conditional activities: A way to organize a course so that tasks are only available dependent on certain grades being obtained or criteria being met beforehand.

  • Completion tracking: A way for students to have checkboxes next to their tasks that are either automatically marked as complete or which students themselves can manually mark if they feel they've finished the exercise or alternatively a way for whole courses to be checked off as finished.

We looked at a couple of ways Conditional Activities can be tweaked to allow a teacher to differentiate the learning path in a course, according to a grade a student gets or a selection they make.

Note

Conditional Activities is a very powerful feature and will no doubt prove very popular. However, it is worth thinking twice before you rush in. I quote from the Moodle docs below:
