In this section on Having your Say, we'll take a look at the changes made to Moodle's messaging system.
Moodle 2.0 messaging has to be turned on from Site Administration | Advanced Features.
For any user of Moodle, the options for messaging can be accessed by clicking on the My profile settings which appear on the front page once logged in and in every course. As we saw in Chapter 2, Finding our way around (Navigation and Blocks), the block can be expanded or condensed. Beginners' French teacher Stuart sees his My profile settings as follows:
Clicking on the blue Messaging link will bring up all the options; he has to configure them to his own preferences.
A site administrator, a course teacher, and a student all have slightly different versions of the messaging screen, so let's go through them one at a time:
