Using raster extensions

Inkscape comes with some common raster editing functions in the form of extensions. We will use some of the extensions in this recipe to see what might be possible in raster editing using Inkscape.

How to do it...

The following steps will demonstrate some of the commonly used raster extensions:

1. Import (Ctrl + I) the Flower.png image accompanying this chapter, and choose to embed it.
2. Duplicate it (Ctrl + D) or stamp it (Space) seven times so you have eight copies in total.
3. Apply the following raster extensions (all are under Extensions | Raster) with the noted settings to the images separately one by one:
- Add noise (Laplacian Noise)
- Edge (3)
- Oil paint (7)
- Shade (120, 30)
- Solarize (1)
- Swirl (130)
- Unsharp Mask (30, 20, 50, 0)
- Wave (25, 150)
