Time for action — setting up an online creative writing exercise


For our advert, we'll use an Online text assignment. We'll have a look at the others afterwards.

Note

In Moodle-speak, an assignment is a place where students can send you work. In the newest version of Moodle, due out in June 2012, the settings for assignments will change a little from those shown as follows. You will still be able to do all of our activities though, and if you need any extra guidance, check out the up-to-date documentation on http://docs.moodle.org/Assignment.

  1. 1. With editing turned on, select Online text from the Add an activity drop-down menu.

  2. 2. In the Assignment name field, enter something descriptive—our students will click here to get to the task.

  3. 3. In the Description field, enter the instructions. If you want them to appear on the main course page, check the Display description on course page box. Our screen will then appear as shown in the following screenshot:
