Challenges and risks with valued-added requirements management


It is important to highlight some of the key challenges with the requirements management blended approach described above. First, is the assumption that the selected packaged business reasonably addresses Initial and Best Practice level business requirements. It is important to ensure that there is an adequate fit between the packaged software functionality and the customer's business model. Otherwise, additional time and effort is required by the project team to perform effective requirements management activities. If the project team has to worry about packaged software supporting basic business requirements, then the implementation has far bigger challenges to address.

Second, the approach is people-dependent. The blended strategy assumes that the project team have competent IT personnel and Implementations Partner consultants who have hands-on experience or formal training in the packaged business solution being implemented...
