Using and storing photos


The use of photos adds significant value to the Sametime Business Cards. Although it can take some additional configuration (especially with an LDAP environment), it should be considered a key part of your Sametime deployment.

The easiest method for deployment is to use a custom Notes application with a form that can store both a photo of the user and a field to use as your key to join dual repositories.

Note

The advantage of using a Notes application is that no change needs to be made to your LDAP schema and no third-party tool needs to be used to upload photos.

If you are using a Domino Directory or Domino LDAP for authentication, you may be considering adding the photos to the Domino names.nsf database. For most Sametime deployments, that is not recommended for performance reasons.
