Time for action — converting an mp3 to work on iOS


iTunes includes a powerful audio engine that we can harness to convert our audio to the right format. To do this, follow the ensuing steps:

  1. 1. Make sure that the iTunes window is open. You should be able to find it in your Application's folder.

  2. 2. In the assets folder, provided in the code bundle for this chapter, find the Dino Store resource folder, in which there is an audio file roar-noise.mp3. Drag this to the iTunes window.

  3. 3. We now need to set up iTunes to convert audio into the correct format. From the iTunes section of the menu bar, open Preferences.

  4. 4. On the General tab, click on Import Settings, near the bottom right. We want to import using AAC Encoder, picking the High Quality setting, so that your Import Settings match the following screenshot:

  5. 5. Click on OK and close the Preferences window. Now find the roar-noise audio file in your library. Right-click on it and select Create AAC Version. Once done, you should see two copies...
