Time for action — encoding a video


Using QuickTime, included with your Mac, we're able to create iAd-compatible video in just a few minutes.

Note

QuickTime X (or 10)is the current version of QuickTime, provided by Apple with their Mac operating system. QuickTime provides audio and video playback and streaming, along with a simple interface for converting video to different formats. If you're able to run iAd Producer, you'll have the correct version of QuickTime installed.

  1. 1. Open QuickTime; it should be called QuickTime Player and you can find it in your Application's folder.

  2. 2. Choose File | Open File. Open the dino-stores-intro.mp4 file in the Dino Store folder, provided with the downloaded book assets folder.

  3. 3. The video should load in the QuickTime window. Hit the play button and check whether the video plays and looks as you'd expect it to.

  4. 4. Once you've watched the video, choose File | Export for Web from the menu bar.

  5. 5. Choose a filename and where to save it. Under Export versions for...
