Overview of this book

Think of an iAd as a micro-app contained within an app on a user's iPhone or iPad that they've downloaded from the App Store. When the user taps your advert's banner it bursts into life filling the entire screen of their device. iAd Beginner's Guide takes you through the start to finish process of building rich, compelling, interactive iAds. You will learn to create beautiful multi-page ads with store finders, social sharing, 3D images and video galleries. You will create ads that utilize the powerful technologies in the iPhone to make your brand shine. Once you have engaged the user you can carry out targeted advertising campaigns with location-based coupons, store finders and social engagement. Using the iTunes Store you will see how it's even possible to add one-click digital content purchasing right within your ad. Learn how iAd producer manages all the HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS3 behind your iAd. You will be creating emotive, gripping and effective mobile advertising campaigns in no time.

Time for action — using sections

iAd Producer lets us segment our analytics into sections, to make it easier to separate the results. You're able to do this without having to modify any JavaScript:

  1. 1. Open the project that you'd like to set up sections for in iAd Producer. We'll continue with the Coffee Beans ad we used in the last exercise.

  2. 2. From the ad overview, click on a page, such as Wallpaper Picker, and expand the Analytics section of the inspector pane. Click on the Section drop-down menu, and then select Manage Sections.

  3. 3. Click on the + button near the bottom left of the pop-over menu that appears, and enter the text for your section, say Downloadable Content.

  4. 4. Choose Apply to close the menu. Now, reselect the drop-down for Section and set the section to Downloadable Content, for the selected page.

  5. 3. Select another related page, say Get the App, from the ad overview, and also set its section to Downloadable Content.

    Note

You don't need to apply a section to every page, only to...
