Chapter 12. Logs, Troubleshooting, and Disaster Recovery in Blackboard Learn

Our final chapter in our long journey with Blackboard Learn takes us into the roles of paramedic, first responder, and detective for our virtual community. Many issues or errors appear to users and the issues land in our e-mail inbox or voicemail. We try to find a solution to the problem, which can sometimes be simple or require detailed analysis. No matter what the issue is, we must try to solve the user's problem.

Sometimes we face a failure in the technology that hosts and manages our virtual community. This happens rarely, but when it does it can create panic, havoc, and an uneasiness about our Blackboard Learn environment from our virtual community. Just as important as the planning and installation of our Blackboard Learn instance, the creation and continuous review of a disaster recovery plan makes us well prepared when disaster strikes and allows us to provide a quick response to our users.
