You might think that coloring is a side skill and that you can do without it. Many of us still rely on Pro Tools's default track coloring and manually assign their preferred colors to tracks and clips, but there are simpler ways of organizing our visual references.
Let's begin with the default track color coding. Navigate to Preferences | Display | Color Coding. Here you can choose the default coloring scheme for both tracks and clips. By assigning the default track color coding to Groups, every time we group tracks together, Pro Tools will automatically assign them to the same available color. By assigning the default clip color coding to track Color, we also avoid having a different color for clips and tracks.
