Creating transitions


Dissolve is a film technique that is used to create a gradual transition from one image or scene to another. The expressions "fade-out" and "fade-in" are used to describe this transition that can be used to suggest the passage of time and to change from one scene to the next. The same technique can be used in Lumion; it allows us to create smooth transitions between clips.

Getting ready

To apply the In/out effect, we need at least one clip, and two clips if we want to create a transition between clips.

How to do it…

To create transitions between clips, perform the following steps:

  1. Open the Movie mode and create two small clips.

  2. Select the first clip and add a new effect using the New effect button.

  3. In the Movie effect library, locate the Style tab and select the In/out effect.

  4. This will add a new module to the interface with these settings available, as shown in the following screenshot:
