Adding noise


Noise or digital noise are terms used to describe the flecks, random points, or grain that will visually distort the photograph when shooting in low light. Noise, in general, occurs when the illumination is low and the digital sensor attempts to record even tiny amounts of light; as a result, noise will get introduced in the photograph. Let's see how we can do that using the Noise effect in Lumion.

Getting ready

To prepare for this recipe, go to the Movie or Photo mode depending on the final output you desire.

How to do it…

To add some noise to your project, perform the following steps:

  1. On the top-left corner of the screen, click on the New effect button.

  2. With the effects library open, go to the Style tab.

  3. Select the Noise effect, and you will perceive that the viewport has changed; now it has a type of noise that is added, known as white noise.
