Introduction


Non-photorealistic render (NPR) is the use of artistic illustration techniques to translate a 3D environment into an image or video that does not seem to be realistic. Some NPR techniques involve the use of cross-hatching, outlines, cell shading, stippling, and impressionism, and the purpose of these techniques is to create visualizations with a style that is not constrained by the precision, fidelity, and perfection of the real world.

Lumion provides a combination of effects that can really imitate some of these techniques, but there is no such thing as automatic art. Making art is a creative, intelligent, and thoughtful process. This implies the truth that to produce an artistic and eye-catching visualization that communicates with the viewer, we need to do more than just add a nice effect.
