Concept of Operation Policies

Operation policies are combination of rules used for IPP operations. This feature has been modified to allow you to set rules for each operation or printer. As we discussed, the Location directive controls entire server limit, the operation policies on the other hand are used for all IPP requests sent to the CUPS scheduler. These policies are evaluated after Location based access control sets and also they control limits on individual printer, task, and service.

These policies are stored in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf file in the Policy sections. Each policy contains one or more sub directives called Limit that lists various operations affected by rules inside it. There should be an alphanumeric name that should be assigned with this directive. You can find an example on this which described the default operation policy in detail at:

http://www.cups.org/documentation.php/policies.html#LISTING01

You can also create your own policy if you want to use Policy directive...
