Putting text in any shape can really affect readability, so we will work more with image frames. We will try to create a book cover that will be filled with a bright image and then have over it the same colored image in a text shape.
Draw the first image frame covering the whole page and import your photo inside. Import a picture from File | Import and choose your image.
With this frame selected, go to Edit | Contents | Copy. We'll need it later.
Then draw a large Text Frame and write a word inside it.
Format it with a bold font and increase the font size so that it fills the frame.
We have now reached the main part of our tutorial. Right-click on the Text Frame and use Convert to | Outlines.
Then use Convert to | Image Frame.
Now ungroup using Ctrl + Shift + G or Item | Ungroup.
Select the first letter frame and use Edit | Contents | Paste (Absolute). Do the same for all the letters.
We'll then change the first Image Frame with effects to make it differ...
