Scratch 2.0 is an easy to use programming language that allows you to animate stories and create interactive games. Scratch also gives you the capability of using programming to calculate complicated calculations for you. Scratch Cookbook will lead you through easy-to-follow recipes that give you everything you need to become a more advanced programmer. Scratch Cookbook will take you through the essential features of Scratch. You'll then work through simple recipes to gain an understanding of the more advanced features of Scratch. You will learn how to create animations using Scratch. Sensory board integration (getting input from the outside environment) will also be covered, along with using Scratch to solve complicated and tedious calculations for you. You'll also learn how to work through the exciting process of project remixing where you build on the work of others. Fading volume out

Sometimes it is desirable to make a sound fade out. We'll continue by building code similar to other recipes in this chapter and then fading the sound out.

Note

You could do this with notes, drums, or just general sounds. It all still applies just the same!

Getting ready

Open a new file and create the following code. If you need a reference, see the first few recipes of this chapter:

How to do it...

To get working on creating a volume fade, follow these steps:

  1. Drag over a new block.
  2. Attach a wait () secs block from the Control category and change the time to 20.

  3. Drop a forever loop below this.

  4. Return to the Sound category. Drop a change volume by () block into the forever loop you just created.

  5. Change the numerical value to -5.

  6. Return to the Control category and drop a wait () secs block below the Sound block you just dragged in.

  7. Change the wait time to 0.5 seconds.

  8. You should have the following code that will play for 20 seconds and then begin to fade out.
