Closed Captions make our eLearning content more accessible and more interesting for the learners. There are many situations where the Closed Captions are useful:
They make our Captivate projects accessible for the hearing impaired students.
They make the project easier to understand for the foreign students.
They are useful for the learners who have to take the online course in an office and don't want to bother their colleagues with the voice-over narrations.
For the previous reasons (plus the ones not listed here), it is a good idea to use Closed Captions each time we add voice-over narration to a slide.
In Captivate, Closed Captions are always associated with a slide level audio clip or with a Multi-Slide Synchronized Video inserted with the Video | Insert Video feature.
As for the Text-to-Speech narration, the text of the Closed Captions is found in the Slide Notes Panel.
