Disaster recovery

No matter where we are on the planet, disasters happen. Earthquakes, volcanos, tsunamis, and blizzards are just a few of the disasters we can face, not including man-made disasters. Any of these can affect our Blackboard Learn instance and create a nightmare situation for us as administrators. We must discuss how we can prepare for a disaster that affects our Blackboard Learn environment.

However, this plan won't be worthwhile unless we know our organization's expectations for our environment. We must discuss these expectations so that we can create a successful recovery plan. Here are a few points to discuss:

  • What is the tolerance for data loss?

  • Can content or database data be lost with no issue?

  • What role does our Blackboard Learn instance play within our organization?

  • Who depends on it and how critical is the system...
