Before we start creating users within Blackboard Learn, there are a few considerations to take into account. Many Blackboard Learn instances use the application's ability to integrate with enrollment or authentication systems already implemented within an organization. While we will discuss these options in Chapter 10, Authentication and Data Integration in Blackboard Learn, creating users without thinking about these issues could cause problems later.
For example, if we plan to use an external authentication server such as LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol ) to authenticate our Blackboard users, our usernames must match the LDAP requirements for our users to be allowed access to Blackboard.
