Importing audio in Pro Tools is very straightforward, but there are a few options we should look at. The Import Audio window is the best way to import audio into your project because it gives a good overview and control of the import process. To open the Import Audio window, press command + shift + I (Mac) or Ctrl + Shift + I (Windows).
On the top-left are displayed the file's properties. Selecting a different file from the left list will display its properties at the top.
Since Pro Tools 10, we can use the 32-bit float file format support making it easier to import files from other DAWs. Many of us use more than one DAW and transferring files between them can be tricky, especially if we begin mixing in one and decide to import it later into another. Bouncing files at 32-bit float eliminate the need for dither and checking for channels and master clipping before exporting. We can now just click on Bounce regardless of internal levels.
